Prospecting for gold in Robbins, North Carolina

Welcome to Bearfoot Gold online. We are a family owned and operated recreational gold prospecting camp that offers a unique experience for families on historic bearing ground. Regardless of your level of skill or preferred method, we offer activities suitable for all prospectors.

Take part in the adventure!

Ever since the North Carolina Gold Rush, our state has had a long history of gold prospecting we hope to continue for generations to come. If you are looking for a place to pan, sluice, highbank, metal detect, or dredge we offer all of these activities in natural, undeveloped settings. Rather than clear large areas to accommodate crowds, we've decided the opposite is what prospectors that visit our location would desire. No parking lots, empty fields, panning booths, or set areas to camp. Just open wooded expanses to enjoy at your leisure.

Gold prospecting is a great way to enjoy the company of your friends and family in the outdoors. We don't simply point you in the direction of the activities and let you fend for yourself; instead we encourage an atmosphere of friendship with regular cookouts and gatherings around a campfire. We want you to come, relax, and enjoy your adventures with new friends.

Our guests are welcome to search across our property on their own with no restrictions on the areas or types of prospecting in which they enjoy, and nobody is standing over their shoulder keeping tabs on them. There are three bearing streams to sluice or highbank in, 30 acres for our guests with metal detectors to search, and over 1800 feet of prime bearing river to set your dredge in. Higbanker and dredge rental is also available.

Located on a historic lode mine, the possibility of finding an old treasure from the mine itself is there for everyone. The location of the old miners camp and homestead produces bottles, keys, and even some coins on occasion, including two Morgan Dollars found near the mine itself. Even older treasure in the form of arrowheads is a fairly common occurrence! Rockhounds would be excited to find some of the minerals that are known here: quartz and amethyst crystals, garnets, fluorite and others can be found by the lucky collector. Keep your eyes open, you never know what you'll find.

And we can't really call ourselves a Camp without, well, camping. Better yet, our guests are welcome to camp free of charge as part of their prospecting experience!

Location

Located in Moore County on the easternmost edge of the Carolina Slate Belt and only a few miles from the famous Uwharrie River, Bearfoot Gold is the furthest place east for prospecting in North Carolina. Though we are located in a country setting, the center of Robbins is a few short miles away for supplies. Also shopping, lodging, and tourist attractions are all a quick drive from our property for the family members less interested in gold prospecting.
