The first Gold Rush was here in North Carolina, and we’d like to bring another. At Bearfoot Gold’s properties we offer a “west coast claim” style prospecting experience on historic North Carolina gold mines. If you are looking for places to pan, sluice, highbank, metal detect, or dredge for gold in North Carolina, we offer all of these activities in natural, undeveloped settings.

Gold prospecting is a great way to enjoy the company of your friends and family in the outdoors. Here at Bearfoot Gold, we don't simply point you in the direction of the prospecting activities and let you fend for yourself; instead we encourage the atmosphere of friendship with regular cookouts and gatherings around a campfire. We want you to come, relax, and enjoy your adventures with new friends.

Exclusive

That’s right, exclusive. We limit the number of gold prospectors on the property to around ten total per day. This gives you, our guests, the ability to enjoy the entire property without worrying about crowds. Guests are also given the opportunity to reserve the property privately for themselves and their companions.

Location

Located on the easternmost edge of the Carolina Slate Belt, Bearfoot Gold is the furthest place east for gold prospecting in North Carolina. About an hour from Charlotte, Raleigh, and Fayetteville in East Central North Carolina, we are easily accessible from all of the major highways in the state. Though in a country setting, shopping, lodging, and tourist attractions are all a quick drive from our property.
